In ‘ Zooey‘, the main characters are Zooey, his mother Bessie and Franny. But the conversation here is more sharper, less pleasant, making it very interesting. Reading this story is like watching the movie ‘ Before Sunrise‘ – there is no plot and it is all conversation. The conversation is about poetry, literature, theatre and related things. They are both students in college, and they meet during a weekend and have a long conversation.

The main characters in ‘ Franny‘ are Franny and her boyfriend Lane. ‘ Franny‘ is around 30 pages long and ‘ Zooey‘ is around 100 pages long. ‘Franny and Zooey’ has two stories, ‘ Franny‘ and ‘ Zooey‘. I hoped to read ‘ Franny and Zooey‘ someday and find out how I felt about it. I had read ‘ The Catcher in the Rye‘ years back and I remember liking it, though I can’t remember much of the the plot now. Give it a try-you'll be surprised at what you find. When I was discussing J.D.Salinger books with one of my friends a long time back, she told me that her favourite Salinger book was ‘ Franny and Zooey‘ and she liked it more than ‘ The Catcher in the Rye‘. If you agree, don't hesitate to pick up a copy of "Franny and Zooey" from your local bookstore. As cynical as Salinger may be in his writing, and as ordinary as the book may seem while reading, I can assure you-personally-that this is a book that can, and will, change your life (for the better, of course.) Many a time as teen readers we are looking for action-packed novels, but I think that what we actually need more of is writing like Salinger's, writing that is nuanced, subtle, and intelligent.

Salinger's book is not a book which follows a typical rise-fall plot, and actually does not have many "major events." It is nonetheless a fascinating read with many life lessons to be learned. She begins to lose hope in the world, seeing even the most distinguished professors as "phonies." During her return to home, she faces the ridicule of her brother Zooey, and memories of her brother Seymour. Franny was a stellar actress until she was bogged down by the difficulties of finding her own identity. The Glass Family children have backgrounds in the field of acting, and the art is a central part of each of their lives. It follows the journey of the lives of retired radio show stars in the Glass Family, focusing especially on the two youngest siblings, Zooey and Franny. Salinger is a powerful and comforting read.
